Yes. PowerPoint can open many Google Slides presentations after you download them in Microsoft PowerPoint format. The conversion works well for ordinary text, images, and common layouts, but complex fonts, animations, videos, charts, or Google-specific features can change.
Download a Google Slides presentation as PowerPoint
- Open the presentation in Google Slides.
- Open the File menu.
- Choose the download option.
- Select Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx).
- Open the downloaded .pptx file in PowerPoint.
Review the presentation after conversion
Check every slide before presenting or distributing the PowerPoint version. Look for font substitutions, shifted text boxes, changed line breaks, missing effects, altered charts, and media that no longer behaves as expected.
Fonts are a common source of differences
If a Google font or another typeface is unavailable on the PowerPoint computer, PowerPoint can substitute a different font. That substitution can change spacing and cause text to wrap differently.
Linked and embedded content may behave differently
Google Slides and PowerPoint do not support every interactive or embedded feature in exactly the same way. Test videos, hyperlinks, animations, speaker notes, and charts that are important to the presentation.
Keep the original Google Slides file
Downloading a .pptx creates another version; it does not require you to replace the cloud presentation. Keeping the original makes it easier to correct conversion problems or continue collaborating in Google Slides.
